Whether you are just interested in re-spraying a small area to cover up some paint chips, or want to treat your car to a custom paint job that will let you enjoy envious stares from every pedestrian you pass, you will need to follow a few basic rules, and have the right tools to hand in order to carry out the work to a high standard.
The first thing to mention about auto paint jobs is that you should always work in a well ventilated area. Paint fumes can include a number of solvents that can leave you feeling light headed and even poison you if you inhale them, so make sure there is free passage of air through your work shop when you are painting. You should also wear a respirator mask during painting or preparation to avoid inhaling any paint and loose dust that you release.
To get the best effects when painting, you also need to make sure that you are able to keep dust to a minimum. You can achieve a good environment by hanging sheets from floor to ceiling in the area where you are working, and wearing overalls. You should also vacuum clean the area where you are painting at the beginning of every session.
When you apply auto body paint, the main thing is to get a good even finish that looks good, and the key to getting a good finish is having a good start. Preparation is everything in paining. Get it right, and you will be able to enjoy a fantastic smooth finish that will last for years and look great, skimp on your preparation, and your finish will look shabby straight away, and then get worse over time.
Before you paint, you need to strip off the old paint job. You can do this with a solvent based paint remover, or do it the hard way by sanding back the panels to bare metal using a sander. Whichever method you choose, you need to make sure that you have a very smooth base. To achieve this, use the finest grade abrasive paper available, and be prepared to put serious time into the job.
Once you are satisfied with your base, you can start applying the primer. Use a HLVP spray gun connected to an air compressor, as this is much more even than an aerosol, and will be much cheaper in the long run. You should use long sweeping strokes in a single direction to get a good base to paint onto. After every coat, allow the paint to dry, and then sand it back to a smooth surface. Then apply the next coat in strokes that go at 90 degrees to the previous layer, as this will produce an even color.
There are two types of auto paint that you can use on a car, cellulose based and Two Pack auto paint. Most painters now use Two Pack because it gives a better finish, and metallic colors are available, whereas cellulose paint can be tricky to deal with, and is best used on classic cars where you are trying to recapture an older style.
As with the primer, you should apply the auto paint in coats, spraying in a single direction, then sanding back to a fine surface to remove any imperfections, before applying the next layer at right angles to the previous one.
In between coats, it is imperative to clean the nozzles on your HVLP spray gun, as otherwise, small flakes of dried paint can be caught up in the spray and cause imperfections that will spoil the final effect.
Once you are satisfied that you have got a good covering and applied enough coats of auto body paint to create an excellent finish, apply one more coat for best effects, allow it to dry, and then sand back for a smooth finish. You should leave the paint to dry completely for 24 hours and then apply a wax polish to the whole body in order to protect your new paint job and give it a shine that will certainly catch the attention of anyone you pass on the road.

The wish for increased vehicle security may be granted in the not-so-distant future. By 2025, experts predict at least one billion vehicles will be on the road, ramping up the urgency to develop more advanced vehicular safety. Rumors of everything from foam-filled airbags capable of expanding throughout the vehicle, to talking, self-guided, Knight Rider-like coupes hitting the market abound. What is actually happening in the engineering world, though, may be even better.
The reality of vehicular technology capable of reaching the masses is that it must be cost-effective, innovative and reliable in addressing actual roadway situations. While cars with star personality are, indeed, being made, automakers and engineers are setting up a network that will allow millions of these smart autos to not only talk with us but talk with each other. By communicating at speeds far greater than human reaction time, vehicles may soon be able to coordinate their own internal systems to mitigate crashes, as well as communicate with other vehicles to avoid them altogether. Such onboard computational power makes multifaceted risk-assessment and advice possible in real-time.
One event that spiked research and standardization activity in the industry was the recent allocation of wireless spectrum for vehicle-to-vehicle safety applications. According to prominent researchers in automotive engineering, the convergence of control, communications and computations is making a dramatic impact on automotive design and development. Carmakers and governments are working together to develop cooperative, distributed safety systems that may dramatically decrease the global number of roadway injuries and deaths.
An organization to watch along with these advancements is the Transportation Active Safety Institute (TASI). Currently proposing a vehicle safety testing facility in North America dedicated to testing these new active safety systems, TASI is a not-for-profit organization. Formed by four universities and a prominent manufacturer in the industry, TASI is on a self-declared mission to encourage innovation, expand the active safety knowledge base and hasten the industry’s alignment of worldwide system architecture, performance standards and testing methodologies. Their tests and interactions with manufacturers, other universities and standards-setting organizations just may help determine future manifestations of vehicular safety.
Such unprecedented global cooperation of automotive suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, government regulatory agencies and academia is expected to increase the acceptance of active safety systems, dramatically reduce their costs, and decrease the societal and economic impact of collisions. Automotive engineers are at the forefront of these efforts, making daily advancements to ensure roadway safety is a matter of course.
Precursors of this technology are already on the road thanks to these engineers, and certain manufacturers have hundreds of patents on safety systems. Pre-crash warnings systems with forward sensors that can predict imminent crashes and communicate with other in-vehicular systems to deploy counter-measures are out there. Such systems ingeniously combine active and passive safety features to decelerate crash energy and help enhance the benefits of restraints. This not only allows the driver to react more effectively, but may reduce injuries to other parties as well. Smart cruise control, active night vision, lane departure warning, side alert and rear-view cameras are out there too, and they are also capable of being integrated with braking, throttle, steering and other systems. Imagine a cocoon of safety: object detection sensors in the side panels, a combination of front and rear cameras, a 76 GHz electronically scanning radar, pre-crash sensors, airbags and seat belts – all communicating to keep passengers as safe as possible.
Studies show buyers want to not only know their vehicles look good, get good mileage and are environmentally friendly, but also that they are equipped with advanced safety systems. Today’s vehicle market isn’t driven only by aesthetics; it’s driven by intelligent choices. Traffic accidents happen every day. Consumers know this. Satisfying them is just a matter of making sure they get what they want – and what they need – to feel safer.

In the ancient days, people used to travel long distances either on their feet or with the help of animals. But, know almost everyone of us own a vehicle. The problem associated with the vehicles is their maintenance and repair. It proves to be a very costly affair. So, in order avoid it we can make use of used body parts in our vehicles for their repairing. Using of second or used body parts would be a worthwhile option for a middle class family, who cannot afford to buy brand new parts.

Presently there are so many places in the market where used body parts are available, but all of them are not trustworthy. Only few of them can be trusted upon, one such place which can easily trust is auto salvage yards. Large number of used body parts are sold and purchased in an auto salvage yard. However, another important decision is the selection of appropriate yard.

Now a day, there are various sites on internet that helps the customers in buying and selling the used body parts to various salvage yards. But these entire sites are not reliable and only some of them can be relied upon. From the various sites present on the internet, one site that can certainly be relied upon is the Autopartslocator.

Autopartslocator has some exceptional features that surely make it different from any other company in the market. Some of the features of the company are as under:

·        Wide compilation of products: The Company offers its customers very wide options of used body parts. The elongated list of used body parts includes anti-lock brake, door rear assemble, quarter panel, gauges, tail panels, engines, headlights and so on. So, the customer feels absolutely safe that his/her desired used body part would be sold or he/she can get the used body part which he/she was looking for.

·        Vast Network: The network of the company is huge. It has large number of contacts with auto salvage yards. When the customer wishes to sell the used product, the company uses its vast reach to facilitate the customer. It displays the used body part for these auto salvage yards and the interested auto salvage yards gets in touch with the company. Then, the company introduces the seller to the auto salvage yards and their mutual understanding, they make a deal.

·        Client fulfillment: The customers of the company whether they are buyers or sellers always feel happy about the quick, prompt and timely services provided by the company. The range of the used parts makes them still happier. They never think that they won’t get the used body part for which they are looking. Same is the case with the sale; they never think that the company would be say that they don’t have the market for their used part.

Due to the fact that it is an online store for selling the used body parts to the auto salvage yards, the customer are facilitated with the advantage of selling their products from the home by simply logging at the online site. This saves their time as well as the money, which they have to spend in visiting auto salvage yards or any other place. The site will also be beneficial to those who do not have the knowledge of reliable auto salvage yards.

The above mentioned aspects reveal that this online site is totally distinct from any other site.

Are you going to buy a vehicle in 2011? If you wish to purchase a new car you probably want to consider the cost of that vehicle. You will need to budget for the loan unless you have enough savings to buy a car outright. Most of us do not have that much savings. To help you determine if a car is within your budget use an auto loan calculator. They can be found online.

You will have to determine what the most likely interest rate will be. Right now most new cars for a 48 month loan is 5.15 percent. A used car is 5.73 percent for 48 months. However, bad credit auto loans can be more than 12 percent for 48 months or more.

In the calculator you will be asked for the vehicle price, down payment, trade in value, sales tax, interest rate and term of the loan. The calculator will then provide you with a monthly payment amount for the loan. Auto loan calculators work like most loan calculators even like same day cash loan calculators. The more information you have about your new purchase the easier it will be to be exact.

If you cannot afford a down payment you can leave it at zero. The trade in value you get may be less than you believe your car is worth. Most dealerships do not offer you the same as what Kelly Blue Book or other auto trader sites suggest. The dealer wants to get the most from the sale. You do not have to trade in your old vehicle if you feel you could get more for selling it on your own. You may want to try that avenue first before you trade it in at a dealership for a new car. Car price is easy to find if you already have a dealership in mind or have found the car you want. Also consider to get pre-qualified for a loan just to find out what interest rate the bank is considering. You may not get that exact interest rate, but it will be close enough to do some calculations

How come people prefer to purchase a replication instead of the genuine brand like Breitling, Patek Philippe or Tag Heuer replica watches? There are many answers to this question and people who patronize these items also have many reasons for buying them. Professional individuals just like a businessman, bank manager, finance managing director or an engineer, definitely prefer to appear good and impressive in their day-to-day routine in order for them to impart a positive impact on the people they come across on daily basis. They usually asked themselves “What is a much better alternative they can wear besides the original brand”.

These folks would like to look respectable but spending too much money on just a wristwatch is not conceivable for them. This is where watches, that are counterfeit, come in the way. Full quality imitation horologes cater them with the answer: these are inexpensive and an average individual cannot distinguish between the reproduction and the original. Putting on a replica watch, which looks like the original brand, can give a lasting impression to the people around them, enhances their image and it does not put a hole on their pocket.

The rewards of purchasing a replication watch outweigh the cons in my belief. One more advantage in acquiring an imitation is that it will not give you regrets if it is eventually got snatched or stolen since you can easily buy another one since it costs very lower. But, on the other hand, if you had bought a genuine brand and an individual stole it, you will end up sorry. Another advantage is when it comes to a point when the watch accidentally got damaged. This even will not be a big impact on your pocket since it can be easily replaced without costing you a big fortune. Or, if your watch malfunctioned, you can easily get it repaired at very cheap price. Plus, maintaining this type of watch is also cheap. After summarizing the advantages aren’t you convinced that replicas sometimes out weigh the advantages of the original brand? Besides you can have as many watches (Breitling, U-Boat, Panerai, Omega, Hublot or Tag Heuer reproduction watches) in your closet. This way you can easily mix and match it with the apparel you will be wearing every day.

Vacheron Constantin has a long and prestigious history. It is among the oldest watch manufacturers on the market and the first proof on the company’s existence dates back in 1785. There are voices saying that the founding year was actually 1755. Vacheron Constantin is one of the most important names in the horology industry, together with Patek Philippe and Piaget. This great trio has come up with the main innovations in the field and has made watches what they are today. They need to be thanked for all the developments in watch making. They are supplying watch components for many other companies. Vacheron is also the company that first started to produce watches in an industrial manner and has changed watch making completely. This industrialization has helped the company produce enough components in order to also supply them to others. The production was less costly and also fast.

There is no reason to mention the fact that Vacheron Constantin watches are precise because their long history is enough proof. Since the price is not one of the advantages of these watches, it was clear that Vacheron Constantin replica watches would be very popular. Their quality has also increased in time, so nowadays they are hard to tell from an original.

The Overseas collection is the entrance of Vacheron Constantin in the sports world. The models in this collection are sporty, yet elegant and sophisticated. It has been said about them that they gracefully combine the past and the future in a single timepiece. The Overseas Chronograph is the emblematic model of the collection. It has a Vacheron Constantin 1137 movement, which makes it exclusive. Many people who are interested in Vacheron Constantin replica watches choose a model from the Overseas collection because they are practical and elegant and have the ability of impressing everybody.

New opportunities in the local homeowners insurance market have enticed at least two Sacramento insurance brokerages, known mostly for insuring high-risk drivers, to push into homeowners policies.

Hosford Insurance Agency Inc., better known as Cheap Insurance Agency, is starting a $100,000 ad campaign as it pursues the new business. Auto insurance makes up 90 percent of its trade and homeowners represents just 7 percent, but the brokerage expects to quadruple its sales in that area.

Meanwhile, Abraham & Associates Insurance Services Inc. has landed a contract with a large insurance carrier Mercury General Corp. – that should let the brokerage expand its homeowners business dramatically.

The local changes are fresh signs that the market for homeowners insurance, formerly in crisis, is loosening as insurers resume making money and get better control of their risks.

The move into homeowners “absolutely makes sense within the context of the marketplace,” said Brian Sullivan, editor of Property Insurance Report and Auto Insurance Report, trade publications based in Orange County.

Industry leader remains skeptical: Two years ago the homeowners insurance business was in trouble. Insurers were getting clobbered. They were covering too much risk for what they charged, Sullivan said.

Insurers reacted by raising prices dramatically and limiting coverage. Policyholders filed fewer small claims for fear of being dropped. As a result, carriers started making money again.

California Car Insurance and the nation are again attractive places to sell homeowners policies, Sullivan said, but insurers are still cautious. Carriers don’t trust the improved trend of the last year or two to continue.

“Things are beginning to look a little bit more open,” said Ron Abram, president and chief executive officer of Abram Interstate Insurance Services Inc., an insurance wholesaler in Rocklin.

The homeowners market began loosening up in the spring as a few more insurers entered and others became more flexible in their underwriting, he said.

You wouldn’t know it from the state’s largest homeowners California Car Insurance provider, State Farm Insurance Cos., which is still reining in sales. It slapped a moratorium on new business in spring 2002. Last fall it eased by allowing agents to replace policyholders who discontinue coverage, but State Farm still isn’t prepared to enlarge its homeowners business, local spokesman Bill Sirola said.

Said Sirola: “This is a market for the courageous.”

As profitable as cars: Mercury General of Los Angeles is one of California’s largest private insurers of passenger cars. For at least three years, it has also been writing about 1,200 homeowners policies a week in California, said George Joseph, chief executive officer. Customers who take both get a 15 percent discount.

“Our position in homeowners really hasn’t changed. The homeowners market in California is a viable market,” Joseph said. “It can be as profitable as the auto market.”

Mercury is just careful to ask questions to estimate a property’s risk from brush, shake roofs and old plumbing and electrical systems, he said.

After selling Mercury auto policies for at least 15 years, Abraham & Associates gained approval a couple of months ago to sell Mercury homeowners policies to renewing customers, said Mark Abraham, president and chief executive officer.

Abraham & Associates, which serves Northern California from four offices with 45 employees, sells 80 percent auto and 20 percent homeowners in its personal fines.

“By this time next year, I would say we’d be 60-40,” he said.

Abraham is contacting its existing Mercury customers – it has a couple of thousand – to tell them they can buy homeowners coverage too. At least 150 customers have signed up. The phone calls will be followed by direct mail or telemarketing.

Homeowners policies aren’t that expensive, so picking up this new homeowners business through the contract with Mercury won’t significantly increase the premiums that Abraham handles. But it will help him keep customers.

A 2.5 percent gain in premiums: Dave Hosford believes his Cheap Insurance Agency will keep more of its customers too as it pushes deeper into homeowners, because homeowners insurance customers don’t switch carriers as often as auto customers do – especially in the nonstandard market.

Hosford said he’s going after homeowners because the sales opportunities are growing and he believes people need his brokerage’s services.

Hosford Insurance works with real estate brokers to help clients quickly find coverage despite complications that occur when a house has a shake root prior claims, old plumbing or nearby brush. Some insurers shy away from those risks, which can make finding coverage difficult.

“In some cases we can get their policy in one day,” said Hosford, who hopes to land easier clients too. Hosford can provide coverage with insurers including Hartford, Travelers, McGraw and CSE.

Hosford, which has 11 offices with 89 employees from Modesto to Chico, has hired two people in the last few months for the push into homeowners coverage. It will spend $100,000 a year on print advertising, billboards, brochures for real estate brokers, yellow pages and possibly radio and public TV.

Hosford handles $20 million in premiums annually. This campaign should increase the total by at least $500,000 or 2.5 percent per year, and boost the number of policies by 1,000, Hosford said. If the campaign succeeds, he expects to hire two or three agents toward the end of the year.

“It’s an excellent move on their part,” Abram said of Hosford’s campaign to expand the homeowners business. Key for Hosford, he said, will be finding insurers willing to write the coverage.

As a wholesaler, Abram Interstate helps Hosford and other retail brokerages find coverage for hard-to-place risks.

The preference over used cars than new cars has been prominent over the past few decades and it has become a creative thinking now a days. As the world economy plunges and rises, the effects are more felt direct to common people. The ever changing value of money makes people think rationally to keep their family budget more efficient – especially popular, luxury cars like a used Mercedes C Class. The car has become the most used means of transportation due to the privacy it offers and the personal availability it assures. Buying a car has become expensive these days mainly due to the economical status of the countries, no matter where they are in the globe. The competition among the car manufacturers makes a car model vanish in no time, making the chase after a brand new model obsolete. The option of buying a car will never end. People often fall in a dilemma on whether to buy a new one or a used one. I don’t think there is much to think to come across a decision. The trend of used car has leaped to a far high position. This is because of the crucial advantages it offers. We shall look into this matter with various perspectives. One aspect is the monetary relief it brings. As the brand value of a car vanishes, its’ price goes down dramatically. We can’t point out performance difference on cars in a great deal, as the make and specifications of a car changes, but the model falls in same category. And the availability of used cars is so much that, the used car industry will never starve or they will get a chance to bid with the customers to an extent. Another advantage is the sales of used cars. If you own a used car and if you want to sell it, there will not be a great difference on money you spent and the money you get. Also, the varieties available in the used car industry are so vast that you can opt for a car of your specifications while staying in your budge. Shortly, the used car industry offers more value for your money, which is absolutely nil in the brand new car industry now a days. Used cars are available everywhere. Local brokers are good option to buy one as the brands you may get might please you. Used car dealer shops are another option, as the variety and after sales servicing may be better. Well known brands like Inchcape Mercedes is a good place but you have to be careful as you might get cheated. My advice is, always see, check and satisfy personally before you buy one. Importantly, carefully inspect the car with the help of a mechanic or an engineer as they know about cars in detail better than you.
